Estimates use regional UK pricing, and AI-generated guidance is indicative, not a substitute for a qualified tradesperson.

How do credits work?
Credits are how DIYDerek charges for analyses, with no subscription. One credit covers one project analysis, quick estimate, cost estimate, or job review. Your first project analysis, first estimate, and first job review are free, so the app can be tried before paying. After that, credits are bought through the App Store in packs of 3, 8, or 20, starting at £2.99, and they never expire. Credits are non-refundable once spent, and Apple handles all App Store billing and refunds.
Which devices does DIYDerek support?
DIYDerek is an iOS app for iPhone, available on the Apple App Store. AR room measurement uses ARKit and, on supported devices, RoomPlan; where AR is unavailable, dimensions can be typed in by hand and still feed the estimate. Projects, plans, and estimates are saved on the device, so saved work stays available even without a signal. There is no Android or web version at present.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings in the DIYDerek app and tap "Delete Account". Deleting an account permanently removes all account data, projects, estimates, reviews, and uploaded photos from the server. The action cannot be undone. If the app cannot be opened, email [email protected] from your registered address and the account will be removed for you.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Open Settings in the DIYDerek app and tap "Export My Data". The export downloads a single JSON file containing your account information, projects, analyses, toolbox inventory, measurements, estimates, and reviews. The file is portable and human-readable, so a full copy of your data can be kept outside the app at any time.
Does AI training use my photos?
No. Photos, project context, relevant toolbox status, and relevant measurements are sent to a cloud AI processing provider only to generate your result, and your data is not used for AI model training. Saved photos stay with their project, estimate, or review until you delete them, and deleting a project, estimate, review, or account removes the related media from the server. Is the AI advice safe to follow?
DIYDerek provides AI-generated guidance for informational purposes only. Plans and estimates are indicative, not final quotes, and final pricing requires an on-site check by a professional. Always consult a qualified tradesperson for electrical, plumbing, structural, or gas work, where mistakes are dangerous and often a legal requirement to certify. Treat DIYDerek as a confident starting point for deciding what to do yourself and what to pay for, not as a replacement for professional judgement. Full detail is in the Terms of Service.
